The Purpose of the Maharishi® Vedic Organic Agriculture Institute: Enlivening Natural Law in Agriculture to Provide the World with Supremely Pure, Nourishing Food

Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture Institute has been founded to re-enliven Natural Law in the profession of agriculture. The Institute’s principal goals will be to promote and certify pure Vedic Organic food–food that is not only free from harmful chemical residues and genetic modification, but food that is lively in the full intelligence of Natural Law–food that is grown in accordance with the ancient, time-tested principles of Maharishi Vedic Agriculture.

Under the inspiration of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Institute will utilize the complete, traditional and scientifically verified knowledge of Maharishi Vedic Agriculture contained in Veda and the Vedic Literature of India to bring today’s agricultural practices in tune with the fundamental Laws of Nature which govern and nourish our lives. With the full enlivenment of Natural Law, the farmers in every country will grow pure and nourishing food for the whole world fa mily.

Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture: Surpassing Existing Organic Standards

The Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture program incorporates in its farming practices the most rigorous existing standards for pure, organic food. But the Maharishi Vedic Organic^SM program goes beyond current organic standards. It uses the ancient Vedic agricultural technologies recently revived by Maharishi to produce food of extraordinary purity and vitality.

- To monitor and certify the production and distribution of Maharishi Vedic Organic products as the freshest, most vital and completely nourishing food available;

- To help establish and promote affiliated Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture Institutes around the world;

- To conduct scientific research on the benefits of Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture;

- To help alleviate poverty in the developing countries by supporting Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture projects in these countries, and by placing a high value on the Vedic Organic foods they produce;

- To challenge the existing agricultural methodologies that endanger human health and life, and bring the food supply system in favor of life by introducing Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture.

What Is Missing in Modern Agriculture?–the Complete Knowledge of Natural Law

The Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture Institute recognizes that the missing element in agriculture today is the complete knowledge of Natural Law. More specifically, what is missing is the understanding of the relationship between the consciousness of the farmer and the Laws of Nature at the basis of farming.

The life of a farmer is intimately connected with the rhythms and cycles of Nature. Every farmer experiences that good fortune—e.g. good weather, or the absence of pests and diseases—is the essential requirement for a successful crop, season after season. In other words, every farmer needs the benevolence of Nature—the support of Natural Law—in order to be successful.

But in the past, support of Natural Law in farming was unreliable and uncontrollable, because knowledge of Natural Law itself was incomplete. Knowledge of a few Laws of Nature–how to prepare the soil and when to sow the seed–was not sufficient to ensure that Nature fully supported the farmer in his efforts to produce an abundance of pure, healthy crops year after year.

Modern agricultural science is nearly blind to the vital relationship between human consciousness and Natural Law. It is thus unable to enliven the totality of Natural Law in the farmer’s consciousness and physiology. It is the enlivenment of Natural Law alone that brings the full Support of Nature in agriculture, resulting in vitality and balance in the crops, the environment and in the farmer himself. As a result of its incomplete approach, modern agriculture creates unhealthy food, a compromised environment, and high levels of risk and financial uncertainty for the farmer. Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture is the timely answer to the dangerous problems associated with modern agriculture. It applies the most advanced, thoroughly tested techniques of organic farming along with the Maharishi Vedic Technologies of Consciousness and Maharishi Vedic Farming procedures to enliven the natural Creative Intelligence responsible for plant growth. In so doing, it promotes the production of food that far exceeds today’s highest organic standards in vitality, nutrient value and purity.
