Training Programs in Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture The Institutes current plan is to establish 108 of these Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture Cooperatives in each of the developing nations in the world in order to have 100,000+ farmers in our program in each area. These would be a sufficient statement of our methodologies to serve as a model for the country and allow us to achieve our immediate objectives of raising the quality of life. On the organizational side, the Institute will employ three highly qualified people in each country to serve as Directors for the program. The first of these will be an experienced business person with good organizational and management skills who would be able to handle the management, organizational filings, legal considerations, financing and personnel considerations of the new organization: Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperatives. The second person must be an experienced organic farmer who knows the local climates, soils, crops and farming methodologies. The third person should be knowledgeable about the Vedic procedures of farming and be able to organize the required Vedic pandits to perform the Vedic procedures on the farms. The first task of these three Directors would be to locate and hire 108 organic agriculturalists and 108 business managers who are young enough to make a career of Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperatives. Once the 108 teams have been gathered, (each Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperative will be run by a team of two persons) the first step will be to conduct a four month, on farm, training program to train the agriculturalists in the Maharishi Vedic Organic farming techniques and the managers in how to establish and run a Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperative. The Institute will provide (through government supported financing or private grants) the salaries for the 108 teams for the first eighteen months. This will be during their 4 month Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperative Teacher Training Course and during the 14 subsequent months in which they are gathering their 1000 farmers, training them, and establishing their cooperatives. After the initial 18 months, the salaries for the 2 managers in each Cooperative will come from the Cooperative that they establish. For the Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperatives Teacher Training course, three international experts in organic agriculture (one in water management, one in soil management and one in organic crop management) will join the 3 National Directors of the Program in each country. This would comprise the faculty for the teacher training. The teams of 108 pairs of Cooperative managers would be responsible for all aspects of setting up the Maharishi Vedic Organic Cooperative, both agricultural and managerial. Once the 108 cooperatives are established and successful, the best of the management teams will train more teachers to establish new cooperatives all over the country. These first 108 Co-ops will be the models for our program.
